Warta u23 shock Libertyville to advance to State Cup final;

Warta u23 advanced to the final of the Illinois State Cup under 23 after beating on the road Libertyville FC 1974 on Wednesday night.

Warta took the lead 19 minutes into the match when a cross from Abdulwahad on the right side was headed on by Hugo Garcia at the far post into an open net.  Warta had two other chances prior to the opening goal in the 7th minute Alan Salmeron shot went wide and in the 16th minute Angelo Oquendo header sailed just wide of the post.

Libertyville only clear chance came in the 42nd minute when a thru ball found its way behind defensive line but the shot was miscued and went way off target  to close out the first half.

In second half, Warta took control and right in the opening minute Vinicius Franco shot was saved but minute later another great run down the left side and a great pass found Franco who slotted the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net.

Bukola Abdulwahad was causing all kinds of problems for the home team defense as his shot in the 53rd minute bounced off the top of the crossbar and two minutes later George Gonzalez sent the ball just over the bar.

Minor injuries forced Warta to make substitutions as Abdulwahad was replaced with Garcia and in the 76th minute George Gonzalez was sent off with a red card for a foul leaving Warta with just ten men for the final 15 plus 5 minute stoppage time.  Libertyville scored off the free kick right after the red card but a brave and solid defending Warta managed to hold off all the pressure and walk away with a great victory which sent them into the State Cup Final in the under 23 Division.
