Warta falls victim to Inferno SC in 2010 Illinois State Cup Competition:

Warta defeated by Inferno SC in round one of the State Cup..

Warta after loosing their first league game of the 2010 NSL Major Division to Albanian Stars week earlier, came as a underdog against Inferno SC in the first leg of the 2010 Illinois State Cup.

Despite loosing to what is considered a best team in the Nation after winning the USASA Amateur Cup weeks earlier - Inferno, Warta played good soccer.  Without few starting players and mostly without their offensive force, Warta did a pretty good job of keeping the former Chicago Storm players out of the goal for the most of the game.  Warta created the first treat as Edwin Martinez found a way thru the Inferno defense but was denied by the opponents keeper.  Minutes later, Warta with another great chance off a corner kick as loose ball was shot on target forcing the opposing keeper to make a diving clearance once again.

Inferno go on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute mark  after a poor clearance of the corner kick at the other end as Warta defender tried to clear the cross but the ball sailed over the defender and goalkeeper Alan Toledo and into the back of the net  to open the score.

Both teams had few more great chances as Warta backup keeper Alan Toledo and Wartas' defense did a fantastic job keeping the score from increasing.

After the switched sides, Warta once again threatened  as Edwin Martinez found himself close to scoring a goal but was once again denied the celebration. 

Warta kept the pressure on and tried to break the deadlock but an injury forced them to make a unnecessary switch which have set them back a little and Inferno finally got their goal in the final minutes of the game. A foul just outside the box was cleared but not out of danger when Inferno payer curved his second attempt shot just past diving Warta keeper Toledo to make it 2:0 for the visitors.

With just minutes left in the game, Warta pushed forward and had two shot on goal but not troubling the opponents goal.

Warta sent home defeated but after a well played game, everyone watching the match could have agreed the same thing.
